About Me

Why therapy?

Life can be hard and sometimes the challenges we face can just seem too much. Sometimes we can feel stuck and struggle to move on to a new chapter in life or to explore new possibilities for ourselves.

The therapy I offer is a safe, welcoming, reflective space in which you can feel at ease and can explore all aspects of your life and/or relationship. I think of it as a harbour from the choppy waters of daily life. It’s a place to be heard and understood without judgement. It’s an opportunity to take stock, to make sense of how you got here, to boost your inner resources, to explore possibilities for the future and to implement positive change. I help to structure the process, to provide clarity about what might be impeding you and offer strategies for clearing the way ahead.

In addition to talk therapy I also offer the opportunity to use the arts as part of our work together. You will have the choice to try a range of techniques that enable you to express and understand yourself more fully. I will support you to engage in this process and absolutely no previous experience or creative skill is needed. Working in this way can bring you an enhanced sense of aliveness and creativity as well as deepening and enriching the therapeutic process. That said, I am also very happy to work without using the arts if that is what’s right for you.

Who am I?
I am a fully accredited psychotherapist and art therapist, registered with UKCP and with HCPC.
I currently work in private practise with couples and individuals. Previously I worked with complex cases in NHS in secondary care, with charities and with children in schools.

My approach is Integrative, which means that I am rigorously trained in and informed by a broad range of theoretical frameworks and modalities of working. These encompass both psychodynamic and humanistic frameworks, including Gestalt therapy, Transactional Analysis, Cognitive Analytic Therapy, attachment theory and contemporary neuroscience. This breadth of skills and perspectives enables me to offer you a bespoke approach that is appropriate for you and the issues you are facing.

What happens next?

I offer an initial, one-off, no commitment assessment session to enable us to explore if we would work well together. We will then decide on a program of treatment sessions, incorporating regular reviews, which will take place at the same time and place for 50 minutes every week, unless we agree that you need more frequent sessions.

If you have any questions, would like to know more or wish to find out about availability, please contact me.
