My Approach

Life is a journey and sometimes you need an empathic psychotherapist to share your struggles and help you to make sense of them.

It may be the time for you to switch off the internal critic and take the first step to give yourself permission to bloom.

I am a qualified Integrative Psychotherapist and draw on a number of theories to suit your personal therapy requirements.

About Me

We are all unique individuals and therefore I adapt the therapy to suit you, rather than working in a formulaic way. I like to work in a way that is supported by evidence. I use both psychodynamic and attachment theory, as a basis for understanding, as neuroscience supports such an approach. I also use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) therapy, which is recommended for the treatment of PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) by the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE). I respect and incorporate the Humanistic way of working. I use empathic attunement, authenticity and responsiveness in our therapeutic relationship. I consider relationships as key in psychotherapy and in life. If you have a clearer understanding of yourself it will lead to more fulfilling relationships, including with yourself.

You may sometimes behave in ways you do not recognise nor understand. Through therapy you may discover that certain events have triggered something buried deep within you. I believe past life experiences can inform you in the here and now. I hope to work with you to uncover a greater depth of understanding of yourself. Putting words to your emotions will help you with your journey.

I use EMDR as part of the therapy I offer or as a stand alone treatment. I am an EMDR Europe accredited practitioner. EMDR has traditionally been used to treat PTSD arising from such traumas as assault, road traffic accidents, sexual abuse and childhood neglect. Research has now shown that EMDR can successfully treat less trauma related symptoms such as performance anxiety, panic disorders and depression. Memories have to be processed so that clients ‘remember’ traumatic events without ‘re-experiencing’ them, and thereby the emotional intensity of that memory is reduced. This is achieved by the client recalling the memory and at the same time moving their eyes from side-to-side or feeling an alternate tap on the back of each hand.

I aim to help you to get in touch with your emotions, to accept and trust them and thereby release your full potential.

You will undergo an initial consultation with me to determine your personal therapy goals, which we will review regularly.

I offer a safe and completely confidential service. Your therapy can be short or long term on a weekly basis. I work face to face both long term and short term and offer online sessions.
