As a systemic therapist I hold curiosity about the problem, I take a non blaming and non judgemental position. I see the problem as often having been created in the relationships between people (often in a family) rather than being located “inside” any one person. Systemic psychotherapy, is non blaming, it looks to identify strengths in the hope of building supportive communication, understanding and collaboration between family members enabling them to move forward in life.
It is my aim that my therapy sessions using a systemic approach will make your therapeutic journey meaningful and purposeful. I will support you to make sense of your interpersonal relationships and family dynamics and context, helping you to gain new understanding and perspectives on how your relationships influence and shape you as a person.
Working with young people.
I am a specialised in Systemic Child Focused Therapy and have many years experience working with children and adolescents. I really enjoy using a variety of skilled kinaesthetic, playful creative, visual, therapeutic techniques, such as narrative therapy, my methods are sucessful in engaging most young people in sessions and enables them to have a positive experience of the therapy process.
I can work with any combinations of family, couples, individuals, sibling groups or friends.
I have over 28 years of experience in working with and supporting families, children adolescents and couples or individuals in educational settings, the NHS, private practice and Children Services. I have found that my professional experience in the many leadership roles and skills and knowledge that I have gained as a teacher, play therapist and parenting coach are complimentary and contribute to my success as a Systemic Family and Couple Psychotherapist.
I love the work that I do and I take pride in the positive feedback that I received, from previous clients, who have described me as calm, wise, empathetic, creative, knowledgeable and effective.
My therapeutic goals are to provide a safe, comfortable, space in which you, your partner or family will feel able to explore, discuss and reflect on what has brought them to therapy. I will place value on collaborative work and the building of our therapeutic relationship, as I believe this will be the foundation to building a respectful, trusting, professional bond that will support you in the therapy process and enable you to make positive changes to your life.
