My Approach

As a relational integrative psychotherapist, I work in a collaborative and conversational way, remaining open and curious about what emerges in our sessions. This way of working can help develop new perspectives and purpose. It nurtures a deeper, 'integrated' sense of self, more meaningful relationships and ultimately change.

About Me

Hello, I am Richard Hughes, a qualified and accredited psychotherapist (UK Council for Psychotherapy).

I offer weekly face to face psychotherapy in two locations:

Central Walthamstow. £75 per 50 minute session. Mondays-Fridays 8.30am - 7.30pm

If you would like to speak further, please call me on 07970 245 899 or you can email me at richard@richardhughestherapy.com

I work with all adult age groups, LGBT+ and black, Asian and minority ethnic people.

Issues I work with include: relationships, anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, bereavement, boarding school experiences, toxic work environments, work/life balance, career change, panic attacks, feeling stuck, ruminating/catastrophizing thoughts, life/career changes, sex and intimacy, sexuality, sense of self, self-confidence and self-worth, age-related issues, being broken-hearted and being relationship ready.

As a psychotherapist, I am qualified to work with issues such as complex/childhood trauma, intergenerational trauma, PTSD, adult ADHD, OCD and OCPD and other diagnosed personality disorders.

I am committed to changing the perception of psychotherapy and counselling which I believe is 'everyday, essential, maintenance'.

I have worked within Wandsworth and Sutton NHS as a clinical team leader.

My training includes a 5 Year MSc/Diploma in Psychotherapy (Level 7) at the Metanoia Institute which is validated by Middlesex University.

I carry full professional indemnity and public liability insurance and I have an up-to-date enhanced DBS certificate.

I worked in television production for over 20 years and was actively involved in creative diversity and mental health awareness in that industry.
