My Approach

I use play therapy with younger children and often use sand trays, drawing. painting.,modelling or movement in my sessions if the client is happy with that.

About Me

I will be taking a sabbatical from the end of May 2024 so am doing only short term work until then. I have worked with children and young people for over 30 years in a variety of settings, and have been a counsellor and psychotherapist for the last 8. I have many years experience with children with learning difficulties, including ASD and am used to working in cross cultural settings.
I have particular experience in the areas of education (mainstream and special), family and child work, bereavement, anxiety, depression, sexuality and gender issues . Other issues that I work with include, sleep problems, bullying, exam stress, relationships, self harm, family breakup and change, domestic violence, anger, difference and diversity issues and challenging behaviour. I work with the child or the parent or a mixture of both according to what is required.
I also work with adults and am registered with BUPA, AXA, Aviva , WPA and other healthcare providers.
I am a clinical supervisor for those working with CYP and adults. I have a sliding scale from £75 to £130. You pay what you can afford. I can reduce fees for people on low incomes. Please contact me to discuss.

I work with

  • Children and young people
  • Families
  • Individuals
  • Private healthcare referrals

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I have worked in several hospices. Death can often bring up a variety of unexpected issues and which might need talking about in counselling.
I work with individual children and young people and I sometimes work with parents to create strategies to manage behaviour in positive and effective ways.
When a child has a problem I find it is sometimes better to work with the parents to develop coping strategies, rather than directly with the child. The parents see the child more frequently than I do and are in a good position to make changes. They sometimes have issues from their own childhood that they need toward through as well.
