My Approach

My psychotherapeutic approach is holistic and integrative drawing from different psychotherapeutic models: humanistic, transpersonal, existential, and psychodynamic. My specialist areas include:
adoption psychotherapy and counselling specialist work – emotional loss – infertility – birth relative counselling
child abuse – child neglect – children in care
anxiety – trauma – low self-esteem – depression – negative behaviour patterns
therapeutic social work – early years – attachment styles
relationships – sexuality, gay
phobias - having worked with a phobia for most of my life, I can help you to explore the underlying causes of your phobia and support you to overcome the fear, stress and anxiety you may experience.

About Me

I qualified at CCPE in December 2018 receiving a post graduate diploma in psychotherapy and counselling (adults). I also hold a post qualifying diploma social work (children’s and families), MA social work (children’s and families), BA education (1st) and a Certificate in education (adult trainer). Prior to working as a psychotherapist I was a social worker for many years in Children and Families and more latterly in adoption.

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

Senior social worker in adoption team, assessing, family finding, post adoption support and counselling: Dyadic developmental psychotherapy, Theraplay, Parenting with PACE, Foundations for attachment and nurturing attachments, counselled at Post Adoption Centre
Social worker for many years in Children and Families, child protection, family systems, family therapy, couples counselling
I am currently studying for a Couples Counselling and Psychotherapy Diploma and can offer support to couples to share their worries and hopes for their relationship in a controlled, structured environment and help identify any problematic dynamics within your relationship.
I have lived with my female partner for 26 years and married 6 years ago.  I am able to support with coming out, concerns about dating or relationships, sexual issues, family problems, depression and self worth.
