My Approach

Change isn't easy. But the right help can make the journey easier.

If you are considering psychotherapy/counselling, please email therapy@carne.com to arrange an initial telephone conversation. I don't charge for the first assessment session unless you continue to the second assessment.

Sessions are online using Zoom.

I work with adults of all ages who are trying to emerge from:
Anxiety
Depression
Relationship issues
Prenatal and postnatal emotional difficulties
Long-term effects of growing up with mentally unwell parents
Bereavement
Trauma
Struggling to find meaning, purpose and motivation, when the world can seem so bleak

The process involves expressing and understanding what is troubling you, thinking together about stresses, conflicts, emotions, thoughts, behaviours, fears and losses.

We can reflect on past and present patterns, and explore different ways of feeling, being and managing.

Sometimes we will be in conversation, sometimes I will simply listen.

From time to time we will review our work, aiming towards increased resilience, reduced distress and more satisfying relationships with the people who matter to you.

My approach has a relational-developmental psychodynamic core, integrated with elements of CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) and mindfulness, informed by neuroscience.

About Me

I trained at Metanoia Institute. I hold an MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy and a Diploma in Integrative Psychodynamic Counselling.

I am accredited with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy and a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy.

If you are considering psychotherapy/counselling, please email therapy@carne.com and we can arrange an initial phone conversation.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I have a special interest in the emotional complexities which may surface for mothers or fathers during a pregnancy and the first postnatal year, and how challenging it can be to form a bond with the baby, or preserve a bond with a partner, through this intensely demanding perinatal stage of life. This is part of my broader interest in how we develop and nurture our sense of identity and meaning in an increasingly complex world, at any age, irrespective of whether we become parents.
