I am an integrative therapist, working relationally. This means when we meet in person or online I will take an active part in our work together, more than listening and empathising, we will be developing a working relationship together. I tend to work in an open ended way, over the medium or long term with issues which have been present for a long time and may feel entrenched and stuck. I feel it is important to take time to both develop and safe and trusting relationship and look back over the past to understand how it is affecting the present.
I understand that looking for a counsellor or psychotherapist can be a confusing business. How will you know who to choose? I think it’s important to meet or speak to the people who strike you as likely candidates. Then trust your instincts.
I am an Integrative Psychotherapist & Counsellor, trained at the Metanoia Institute. This means I am influenced by several therapy traditions and work relationally. In practice it means I will engage wholeheartedly in our discussions, providing a safe space for you to share your feelings. I think it’s important for us to develop a trusting working relationship. We can look at both the past and present to see how your experiences have had an effect on you now. I work in an open ended way, which means I don’t limit the number of sessions.
I work with adults on an individual basis. I do not currently work with couple or children. I work with many issues including those related to trauma, relationships, grief and loss, health or caring issues.
Contact me by telephone or email to arrange an initial appointment, when you can see whether I am the therapist for you.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
