My Approach

Hello, are you looking for help and support? Someone to help you navigate through a difficult patch in your life? I offer a safe, confidential space for you to speak freely and be listened to fully. My hope is that our work together will help you understand yourself and be happier. Therapy can be a place to explore your past, and undo the patterns that repeat in your life. Having a good therapist is like having a skilled companion, who walks with you, pays attention and helps you identify and access your inner strengths and resources.
I draw on a wealth of knowledge and a variety of approaches. My particular areas of interest are relational therapy, trauma recovery, self-awareness and body psychotherapy. I am interested in what it is like to be uniquely you and how your experience of life can be improved.
For individuals and couples, I offer a safe space for you to explore your issues and start to move forward in the ways you would like to. I offer a free initial phone consultation, so you can ask any questions and get a sense of what therapy with me may be like. I look forward to hearing from you. Warm wishes, Hannah.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

Relationships are such an important part of our lives and having healthy, loving connections has benefits to our mental emotional and physical health. Whether you are in a family unit ,a couple relationship or one of the many other configurations of relationship available for humans to explore; understanding yourself and your responses to those around you can lead to improvements in the quality of your life. Sometimes we can really struggle with these connections and whether you are struggling alone or in a couple, I can offer a space to help you explore these issues and find new ways of relating.
I have undertaken extra training in trauma recovery and work in a trauma informed way. This starts with empowering you to understand your own nervous system and how it has been shaped by the experiences of your life. From here I draw on a wealth of knowledge and experience to help you work with your body to recover a sense of connection, awareness and freedom. Trauma is a buzz word at the moment and it can be confusing to understand what is meant by it. From a psychological perspective, what we are working with when we work with trauma is unprocessed experiences/memories that have led to our nervous system being overwhelmed, this can lead to all kinds of other issues like anxiety, depression, numbness, insomnia and physical discomfort to name a few. The way in which I work with trauma is gentle with the focus being not on diving deep into the past, but on improving your present experience.
