My Approach

I qualified as a systemic psychotherapist in 1989 following a psychodynamic training as a social worker in the 1970's. I work with children and young people and I specialised in play for a number of years prior to my psychotherapy training. I use a relational focus and see individuals, couples and families. I provide brief, solution focused or longer term work and have trained to use EMDR.

About Me

I am a consultant systemic psychotherapist and supervisor with more than 30 years experience of work in different contexts.
I am working online and see individuals, couples and families using a relational focus.
I provide clinical supervision to registered psychotherapists, therapeutic counsellors and psychotherapists in training.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I have undertaken numerous workshops with a focus on working digitally and have developed my practice online to provide a personal and effective online therapeutic service. ‘This member has completed UKCP Covid-19 Online Working Guidance’
There is no blueprint in becoming a parent and our culture tends to focus on the 'rose tinted' aspects of parenthood and less on the real challenges that being a parent brings. Navigating these complexities is something that I can help with from my experiences of working with families from diverse backgrounds and culture.
A systemic approach is informed by the belief that we all live in a network of relationships that inform our view of ourselves. This is shaped from early childhood experiences and relationships, continuing throughout our life and playing a role in how we manage relationships in adult life whether with parents, partners or children. Distress is experienced when these relationships are not experienced as supportive or loving.
I am a registered clinical supervisor and provide supervision to experienced UKCP colleagues and also psychotherapists in training. I am experienced in the provision of supervision and consultation on a one to one basis and also to workplace groups and organisations.
