About Me

Dr Egle Vera Reeves
UKCP & BPS Registered Counselling Psychologist and Psychotherapist
Clinical Psychologist - Psychoanalysis (Argentina)

I have been working in private practice with adults since 2004 whilst re-training as a doctor in Counselling Psychology and Psychotherapy in the UK. I have always worked with people of different ages, backgrounds and presenting issues in an exploratory, non-stigmatizing and collaborative way. I do not follow predetermined ‘ways’ in response to specific ‘symptoms’ as I believe this practice aligns with and multiplies oppression. The same goes for my supervisory practice.

My psychoanalytic and integrative practice is influenced and enriched mainly but not exclusively by the teachings of Freud, Lacan, Winnicott, Guattari, by child development research and attachment theory, and by many Argentinean critical clinicians like R & M Rodulfo. I trained as a Clinical Psychologist specialized in Psychoanalysis in Argentina, where I gained full accreditation and registration. I also trained and worked in Psychoanalytic Parent-Infant work and psychoanalysis with children and adolescents whilst being part of a multidisciplinary team working with ill and vulnerable children for a decade. I also worked in marginalised communities, in institution with groups and in a transdisciplinary HIV/AIDS prevention program. I also had a small private practice before leaving Argentina.
Due to re-accreditation bureaucracy in the UK, I decided to retrain and whilst studying, I worked in multidisciplinary teams supporting asylum seeking and homeless families, offering emotional and practical support for any type of families with young children within the voluntary and local authority sectors. I also co-developed and ran a psychoanalytic and attachment based weekly group for new parents and their babies for a decade alongside health visitors.
I researched the impact suffered by adults that had been abducted as babies during Argentina’s last dictatorship, learning about the transformative and reparative transdisciplinary work developed by family members and human rights organisations, leaning on the pillars of truth, memory and justice to support the difficult journey of 'restitution'.

I am passionate about supporting someone's unique journeys through different transitions in life (from the very early years onwards) and about the transformative power of communal/community work. I work with a focus on the unconscious.
