My Approach

I see my clients as unique individuals and take into account all their special characteristics, treating the whole person, not just the immediate symptoms. I believe we hold within us the solutions to our problems and it is up to me to help you unlock the resources you already have, rather than try to impose prescribed solutions. Many people fear that therapy is a long, drawn out, painful and expensive process. It doesn’t have to be like that. When trust and rapport have been established, even intractable problems can be alleviated or indeed resolved in a comparatively short time. The first session will be concerned with finding out about you and assessing how best to treat your particular problem. Over the past 30 years I have developed a repertoire of skills and the therapeutic approach best suited to you will be discussed with you beforehand. You are in control and dictate the pace. Sessions are interactive and responsive to your needs. My aim is to help you to help yourself, in other words to empower you to take control of life and achieve the goals you want.

About Me

I established my Psychotherapy practice in 1998. My initial training was in psychosocial counselling, exploring counselling from both transpersonal and family systems perspectives. I obtained a postgraduate diploma in Therapeutic Hypnosis and Psychotherapy in London in 1995, followed by a Diploma in Ericksonian Advanced Hypnotherapy in 1998. In 2004 I completed training in Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR) at the University of Ulster and in 2007 Thought Field Therapy (TFT). Both therapies are effective in the treatment of anxiety and trauma which are specialist areas of interest of mine. A central part of my life has been the study of various methods of healing and I am a reiki master practitioner and shamanic counsellor. I am committed to continuous professional development and am currently studying transpersonal therapy at the Transpersonal Institute in Co Meath Ireland.
