My Approach

My integrative approach is based on psychoanalytic and humanistic ideas. I combine components of attachment theory, Gestalt, and relational psychotherapy. Furthermore I offer body psychotherapy including somatic trauma therapy (see below).

I am curious about the role of the body as part of psychological healing. Neuroscience research has shown a significant link between the mind and body in emotion regulation and the healing of trauma. Experts now talk about the concept of "bodymind”, which is combining the wisdom of our embodied experience with our thinking. This can lead to more balanced decisions and a greater sense of connectedness with others. If such a process seems right for you, I may include aspects of body psychotherapy to support you.

I am passionate about issues of belonging in a multi-cultural society and work in both the English and German language.

Where Do I Go From Here?

Please feel to telephone me if you want to know more or to see if I can help. The first session will provide the space for you to explore your options and get a sense of my way of working.

Therapy as an Investment in Yourself

I view therapy as an investment in your wellbeing. Given that your therapy will be most effective with regular attendance, weekly therapy is encouraged at the start. Your commitment, my undivided attention and my experience as well as your payment, are all supporting the progress of your therapy. Therefore, once you decide to sign up, every session will be charged for, incl. cancellations and holidays. This setup, which is based on psychoanalytic principles, has been known to strengthen one's sense of commitment as well as stability.

About Me

Welcome!
I am an experienced Counsellor and Psychotherapist, offering integrative therapy in a peaceful space in Crystal Palace. I have worked as a therapist in primary care (GP surgeries) as well in the charitable sector for 25 years, which has included resolving a variety of issues such as anxiety, depression, bereavement, relationship problems, and addictions. I work with individuals and couples and offer therapy in English and German language.

When Therapy Can Help
Counselling or psychotherapy can be the gateway to living your life more fully and connecting more deeply with yourself and others.
Whether there is something missing in your life or some loss of direction, therapy can help you regain your sense of balance and discover new perspectives, with the fresh eyes of awareness.

What You Can Expect
Whether you wish to look at a current issue or something more deeply-rooted, I offer a secure and confidential space where you can be heard and listened to.
The therapeutic relationship is at the core of my work. This mutual encounter can create a sense of trust and shared curiosity between us, thus opening the door to the expression of your needs. When the unfolding of your therapeutic process happens at your pace, new insights can safely be voiced and integrated.

I offer both short-term and open-ended therapy with individuals, couples, and small groups. I regard a "couple" in its wider sense and welcome two relationship partners as much as family members, friends, and work colleagues. Whether the work is counselling or mediation, I hold the space for you to become the experts of your own interpersonal problems.

What Is Integrative Psychotherapy?
Integrative counselling and psychotherapy is a unique therapeutic approach based on contemporary research and teaching methods.

Please feel to telephone me if you want to know more or to see if I can help. The first session will provide the space for you to explore your options and get a sense of my way of working. If you wish to commence therapy, you may start with just a few sessions or a block of 12 as a good grounding. You may then complete or wish to deepen your exploration with a more open-ended process.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I work mainly with affected family members or partners, attempting to raise their awareness of interpersonal issues such as co-dependent dynamics, as well as exploring supporting factors empowering the individual to make choices based on self-care.
From working with affected family members (by addiction) for many years, I developed a special interest in couples' work. I regard a couple as the true expert of their relationship, facilitating just the right intervention needed to support their already existing relationship capacity (i.e. mix of counselling, mediation and psychotherapeutic interventions depending on the couples' need).
I am passionate about issues relating to cultural identity and issues around belonging and displacement. I work with refugees and offer therapy in English and German.
I lean on mindfulness-based psychotherapy in my work which integrates ideas from secular and non-secular mindfulness into the therapy work.
I work with developmental trauma and PTSD as well as with complex PTSD. I have successfully completed the advanced certificate of somatic trauma skills and theory in 2023 which offers the possibility to work with the body as a powerful resource for trauma healing.
