My Approach

My integrative approach includes Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Attachment Based Psychotherapy, Body Psychotherapy and CBT and Mindfulness techniques. In line with Humanistic Principles I recognise, value and work with the whole person, in the belief that each person contains within them the potential for growth and transformation, which I facilitate by creating a nurturing, supportive therapeutic environment. I believe in the healing power of compassion, and work with you to nurture your self-compassion as a bedrock of strength, flexibility and courage.
Sessions provide a chance for you to reflect on and discover more about yourself, your patterns, and what is troubling you. They are intended to nurture and develop you as an individual, ensuring that you are seen, heard and appreciated. As well as helping you to understand the nature and origins of your current problems, I will also help you to see and use your strengths to build the life you want.
Therapy can happen rapidly, or can unfold over a longer period. It is usually not a quick fix, but it can be transformative. Some of the many benefits include; decreased stress; greater self-awareness and understanding; increased confidence, self-esteem, and self-compassion; more satisfying relationships; and a sense of empowerment and creativity.

About Me

As an experienced counsellor and psychotherapist, I offer a safe, non-judgemental place where you can make sense of where you are, find solutions, and work out a way to move more comfortably into your future, and build the life you want to live. I am an Integrative Therapist. This enables me to draw on a range of approaches to tailor the therapy to each individual client. We will use the therapeutic relationship we create together to explore what troubles you, to re-examine behavioural patterns and to heal past trauma. This way of working enables us to transform our own processes, as well as how we relate with others, and find emotional freedom. I have experience of working in private practice, and in NHS primary and secondary care community settings as well as in a student counselling service. Like all UKCP registered therapists, I am qualified to work with a broad range of issues. I have particular experience and interest in working with anxiety; relationships; self-compassion as an antidote to self-criticism; boarding school syndrome; and with adult children of alcoholic parents.
