My Approach

Psychotherapy sessions with me offer a warm, respectful and confidential environment in which you can explore your feelings, relationships, habits and stuck patterns, with a view to gain a deeper insight into your difficulties, improve your relationships and personal problems, and give you more choice about how you live your life.

Sessions are suitable for anyone experiencing stress (which can be experienced as irritability, weepiness, aches, pains, insomnia, exhaustion, and a lack of interest in life), anxiety, depression, or for anyone who feels overwhelmed by strong emotion, unable to cope with difficult life changes, unable to express themselves directly to others, or for those who feel stuck in a lifestyle that no longer works for them.

I offer body-oriented psychotherapy, which works on the understanding that emotions, stresses and trauma aren't just experienced in the mind, but are also felt and held in our bodies. These can manifest as aches and pains, tight or slack muscle, shallow breathing, an inability to relax and sleep, inability to concentrate or make decisions and a lack of vitality. By including the body in psychotherapy, we can engage with our habitual behaviours and unconscious patterns, supporting change in a direct, powerful, and lasting way.

As well as talking, a psychotherapy session can include different ways of exploring your process. It is also possible to work with movement, posture, breath work, relaxation techniques, imagery, using cushions or objects to represent people in your life, or using biodynamic massage (a psychotherapeutic form of massage, concerned with the integration of the emotional and physical to facilitate wellbeing). Different people need different kinds of support in their self-discovery. Your wishes about ways of working that suit you will always be respected.

About Me

I draw on my extensive training in body-oriented therapies, mindfulness, non-verbal communication, humanistic psychotherapy and attachment theory.

Intrinsic to my practice is the humanistic principle that the capacity to find ways of resolving any difficulties resides within an individual. My work helps people to come in touch with the innate capacity to self heal, and the individual's limitless potential to live fully and authentically as their whole, essential self.

Body Psychotherapy sessions with me offer a confidential environment in which you can explore your feelings, relationships, habits and stuck patterns, with a view to gain a deeper insight into your difficulties, improve your relationships and personal problems and give you more choice about how to live your life.
