My name is Verka (also known as V) and I have been a practising counsellor/psychotherapist in Richmond/ South West London for the past 6 years. I am a qualified humanistic psychotherapist offering a confidential space to safely explore your thoughts and feelings. I combine different schools of psychotherapy and varied therapeutic tools to create a personalised approach for each client that is based on what we agree together as the most beneficial for your unique circumstances and requirements.
Whatever your reasons to seek therapy, be it coming to terms with pain, loss, illness, loneliness or relationship problems, or if you simply feel stuck, anxious or frustrated in your life and perhaps are not sure why, it is my aim to help you make sense of things.
Based on my Humanistic orientation it is my belief that we all have a desire and capacity to live our lives to our best ability. As we go through life, however, we encounter set-backs, obstacles and significant hurdles which may make it less easy to see what is best for us or how to achieve it. I like to discuss with my clients how they are doing now but also make links to their past experiences or underlying behavioural patterns.
I endeavour to be client-led, dedicated to your needs and always respectful of your wishes and decisions. This is your space and you are the expert on your life; I will simply assist you in making sense of things that have happened and empower you to make the right choices for yourself in the present and going forward.
I can still remember how daunting it can be to enter therapy and make the first contact, but I can assure you the benefits of psychotherapy truly can be life-changing. Your investment and dedication to your well-being as well as accessing help in resolving the things in your life that are making you feel unhappy or stuck will bring many positive outcomes. Be brave and give psychotherapeutic counselling a try.
My aim for you is to live your life more fully, in an authentic way which allows you to feel more joy, less fear and where you believe in your ability to achieve, accept and change. I am convinced that this shift is possible at any age and stage in life, provided that we are open to the idea and are brave enough to discuss what's not working and how we might wish to do things differently.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
