My Approach

Hi, how are things with you right now?
My approach is to be friendly and welcoming. And that's because I believe that mental health and emotional wellness can be embraced into everyday life, and spoken about in a matter-of-fact way.
I listen. I'm really good at properly hearing what you are expressing, and can work on what is important to make a difference in your life. But I'm also interactive. I do engage with you so that we are working together on resolving things, rather than you simply talking.

My specialities include working with people who are experiencing the following things:
- anxiety (all types), low self-esteem or lack of confidence, lack of motivation or performance, difficulties in relationships of all types, workplace issues, lack of direction or low performance.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

Having counselling or therapy with someone who understands ADHD can help keep the therapy on track and not veer off onto tangents that are not useful for resolving the things that you came to therapy about. In addition to therapy, I also offer coaching for people with ADHD (or ADD) to assist with executive functioning and to get things (and your thoughts) organised and completed so that you get more out of life.
You may have had anxiety for a very long time - or you might only have started to experience it. Either way, you will know that it feels awful in your body, hijacks your thoughts, and disrupts your ability to live a consistently happy life. Some clients know what are the causes (or root cause) of their anxiety, and some do not. That's fine. We start from where you are and I help you to understand it and work it through so that you can enjoy being free of it and feeling like yourself again.
I see clients who are adults with autistic spectrum disorders, whether formally diagnosed or not. I understand about sensory processing and communication differences that are relevant for people with ASD and can provide a therapeutic experience where you will be understood, as well as one where the issues that you wish to pursue are followed and resolved.
Sessions are online using Zoom and available 10 am to 10 pm weekdays UK time. The benefits of online sessions include the convenience, (not having to travel any further than your screen) and clients being in familiar surroundings where they feel comfortable while having the therapy sessions. You will need an adequate internet connection and a suitable device (phone, tablet or computer), as well as a private space where you can't be overheard. Occasionally, online therapy isn't suitable, and we can ascertain that at the outset together. The rewards of online therapy are that we can see each other really well, and concentrating on each other seems easier. There has been a lot of research on the matter and the findings support the use of online sessions as a viable way to have a therapeutic experience. Get in touch if you are interested in this.
All types of relationships are suitable for therapy sessions. You could be married, friends, colleagues, live-in partners, or in a more unconventional arrangement of relationship. You may want any of the following outcomes: - to be heard or understood - to navigate a difficult event or situation - to realign your connection - to have improved communication Please contact me to arrange sessions (10 am to 10 pm on weekdays)
