I am an experienced UKCP Registered Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist with over 28yrs experience working within the NHS and employed for the past 7yrs as a Highly Specialist Psychotherapist within Secondary Mental Health Services. I also see clients in Private Practice.
I provide short-term and longer-term individual therapy for adults and I also offer family consultations and couples therapy. I have an enhanced DBS and abide by the code of ethics set out by the UKCP.
I have extensive experience working with people who present with many different emotional and psychological difficulties, such as problematic relationships, identity issues, sadness and loss, anxiety and depression, alongside more complex enduring mental health conditions. Emotional difficulties can often result in self-destructive behaviours which can affect us in every day life and underly relationship conflicts.
Therapy can provide a safe space in which past traumatic experiences and difficult feelings can be thought about. Within the therapeutic work we can often identify repetitive patterns of behaviour and this awareness can result in a greater understanding of your self, and self in relation to others. The insight gained in therapy helps improve communication within personal relationships, which can result in symptom relief. The therapeutic relationship provides an opportunity to feel heard and understood which in turn can help improve the quality of our relationships and in how we view ourselves.
Clinical Supervision: I practice as a clinical supervisor to other psychotherapists working within the context of the NHS, and also within private practice.
I am a registered psychotherapist with medical providers: WPA, Aviva, Axa PPP Healthcare, Healix Health Services Ltd & Bupa.
