As an integrative and transpersonal therapist, I use different models of therapy to meet your needs. Although every person's therapy is different, some examples of what we might explore include:
- what is happening for you in the here and now and what you want for the future;
- your previous relationships and experiences and how they may have shaped the way you think, feel and act today;
- your sense of emotional connection and practising processing emotions in a compassionate and safe space;
- background narratives that may be a strength or a hindrance to your life and goals;
- using your imagination and creativity to support you in connecting with the parts of yourself that evade conversational language, such as paying attention to images, dreams, and the arts;
- how your nervous system might be impacting you and how to soothe it;
- your experience, connection with and identity in the wider systems that we are a part of - ecologically, spiritually, socially.
All of this is in the context of building a strong relationship of trust, which is the ongoing and most important element of our work together. The research tells us that this is the most reliable indicator that your therapy will be successful.
Whether you know exactly why you want therapy or your reasons feel vague but important, I'd like to help you get to the heart of it.
Perhaps you're feeling anxious, overwhelmed, lost, numb, disconnected, or struggling with your confidence or relationships. Perhaps you are feeling okay-ish but want something different or more from life.
Exploring this with a skilled listener who doesn't judge can really make a difference. As an Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, I listen carefully and engage in a focused way with you to help you towards your goals, whether they be understanding, vitality, healing, growth, change, action or anything in between.
I hold a Diploma in Integrative Transpersonal Counselling from Re-vision, a well-respected counselling and psychotherapy training institution in London and a First Class Undergraduate degree in Psychology and Philosophy from The University of Sheffield.
I run a private practice in Bristol, Chippenham and online and have previously worked at Network's Community Counselling service in Bristol.
Further to my therapeutic qualifications and experience, I have a professional background in operations, technology, and leadership in the private and third sectors so I understand the joys and challenges that come with this kind of work. My ethnicity is mixed, with English and Jamaican heritage and I was born and have lived mostly in the UK. Some clients may wish to explore their own racial identity in therapy with me.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
