My Approach

Person-Centred and Experiential

About Me

I trained as Person-Centred and Experiential Psychotherapist at the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute (MSc, Distinction). I have experience working with a wide range of clients of different genders, ages, sexual orientations and cultures with a varied presentations and depth of issues. I have undertaken additional training that has allowed me to work with clients who have experienced ongoing childhood trauma, past abusive relationships (physical/ emotional) as well as clients with ADHD and autism (self or externally diagnosed). I have also undertaken a 8 week mindfulness training course that is particularly helpful for clients who use dissociation as a coping strategy. Some of my work is long term, helping clients address and move through the aftereffects of past trauma whilst others come to talk through a current set of immediate circumstances that need resolving. Wherever you are, I will meet you where you are.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I have a particular interest in working with clients who are neurodivergent particularly those diagnosed in adulthood as Autistic, ADHD or with AuDHD
I am particularly interested in working with people who are experiencing being 'other' in British culture, particularly post-Brexit.
I have expertise in working with clients whose family situations are complex, in particular situations where clients choose estrangement.
I have undertaken past academic research in the field of gender and power and have experience working with clients who are being discriminated on the basis of their gender (amongst other elements) and who are questioning their gender identity.
I have a plenty of experience working with clients whose lives have been impacted by complex childhood or individual experiences of trauma, looking at ways they learned to cope (protective strategies) and how to return to restore a sense of Self.
