No man is an island
(John Donne)
When faced with difficulties many of us try to deal with it alone. It is my experience that this usually does not lead very far. Instead it is when we work and think together with someone else that we are most likely to get out of our unhelpful patterns. This process helps us to find more liberating and constructive paths.
My theoretical background is in attachment and psychoanalysis. Most of our patterns are created in childhood within the relations we had with our caregivers. I think it is of utmost importance to go back to the root of the problem in order to correct what once went wrong. This process is not about blaming but about exploring difficult emotions in a safe and non-judgemental space where we can think about these potentially very painful feelings together. As it is in the relationship between therapist and client where the potential for change lies it is of outmost importance that you as a client feel comfortable with the practitioner that you chose to go to.
I have worked one to one for 15 years with most issues as for example anger management, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, phobias, relationship and child related issues, separation, divorce, OCD, stress and many others. Another issue that I encounter very often is the anxiety related to living up to the perceived expectations of others. As we are striving to live up to some impossible ideal we can get almost paralysed from the fear of not reaching this goal, and so it can feel 'better/safer not to do anything, and then the vicious circle is in full swing. It can of course also lead to burn-out when we are forever striving for the impossible.
I have set up The Farringdon Practice in which I work. The practice is very conveniently located minutes from the Farringdon Station and ten minutes from St Paul's underground station.
