I aim for a collaborative experience and my style is relaxed and conversational. Together we will look at what you are going through and try to work towards greater awareness and understanding of the issues you choose to bring. We will explore the possibility of reframing the past, revealing strengths and resources which might help towards contemplating new choices and way of being.
Aside from my private practice I work with a specialist cancer and palliative care unit within the NHS, where I see patients, carers, as well as family members. This work embraces a wide range of human experience, loss, fear, anxiety, isolation, grief and bereavement, as well as chronic pain and physical change. I aim to be with my clients in the place in which they find themselves, where emotions might threaten to overwhelm and feel impossible to navigate. It is by attending to these feelings, allowing them the space they need, that we might find a way to move through them.
As an accredited member of UKCP I adhere to their code of ethics. I believe in working with accountability, and respect for the confidentiality of my clients.
I offer individual therapy, short or long term, according to your needs, and we will regularly check in to ensure these needs are being met.
My practice is grounded in the belief that we discover ourselves in relation to others, and in therapy we have a unique opportunity to experience that with a caring other. I have travelled widely throughout my life, working creatively and living in different communities, I hope this is reflected in the openness and flexibility I bring to the work.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
