My Approach

I utilise the natural creativity of each client and explore issues through verbal and movement interaction, object work, somatic awareness and mindfulness. Movement Psychotherapy is an integrated approach that incorporates psychodynamic and humanistic models of relationship while engaging the client in a whole-body process of discovery and self-awareness. EMDR and mindful sensorimotor psychotherapy practices are invaluable when addressing issues of deep-seated trauma.

About Me

Since qualifying as a Dance Movement Therapist in 1990 (at Laban Centre London) I have gained further qualifications as a Certified Movement Analyst (CMA), a Sensorimotor Psychotherapist, an Individual and Group Supervisor using Creative Approaches, and as an EMDR therapist. My practice is with adults seeking relief from anxiety, depression, C/PTSD resulting from childhood trauma, chronic physical health issues, and relationship difficulties. I utilise creative and body-based approaches in collaboration with talking/meaning making.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

Linked to early experiences that were abusive and/or neglectful, family violence, war trauma, difficult bereavement
Since COVID-19 there have been many long-covid symptoms which are relieved by a somatic approach engaging the body and breath-work.
Chronic self-esteem issues, repressed anger resulting from abuse and neglect, racism and sexism can all exacerbate depression
Using creative approaches when supervising individuals and groups - online and face to face
Mental health is greatly impacted by abusive experiences in childhood which are recognised as significant in a client's growing sense of self and agency
