My Approach

We all walk through a very complex world that can be confusing and overwhelming, even taking this step to find a therapist must have taken a lot of thinking and is a great start! From experience I know that being able to think out loud with an empathic professional can make the biggest differences. I use my many years of experience as a therapist to support you to find ways to create small changes that might make huge differences for you as an individual, family or communication in your business or company.
The basis of my work is that all of us are shaped by our social world and lived experiences; some positive, some negative, but we were and are part of a system - family, education, work place. Within this I can also use Compassion Focused Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy and am very interested in Emotionally focused therapy with individuals, couples or families.

About Me

I am a Family & Systemic Psychotherapist who started out training as a Learning Disability Nurse and Social Worker 22 years ago. I've been told I'm a walking mutli disciplinary team!
I am particularly interested in working with children and adults exploring their gender identity, those who are gender non conforming or are trans. I'm happy to work with people individually or as a family. I am really interested in supporting any family, but particularly families that might not fit the heteronormative 'typical' family; queer family, chosen family and the difficulties of navigating the world from these intersections.
I am qualified to diagnose gender dysphoria and am a full member of the British Association of Gender Identity Specialists.
I am an experienced trainer and guest lecturer on thinking about systemic ways of working with gender non conforming people and systemic theory. I am also very interested in supporting people where a family member, adult or child, has Autism or ADHD or those adults who have experienced late diagnosis.

I work with

  • Companies
  • Couples
  • Families

  • Individuals
  • Private healthcare referrals

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I have significant experience in supporting and working with diagnosed and undiagnosed children and adults who are autistic or have ADHD, AudHD. For people who have been diagnosed in adulthood I have a particular specialism in supporting you to think about how autism/adhd shaped your experiences in the world without that being known by you or others. It could be that this has shaped some of the patterns in your relationships which might be helpful to think about with a therapist.
Gender is a particular interest of mine in life and in supporting others in their own thinking or supporting family relationships where people might have different ways of understanding gender. I currently work with gender non conforming youth and their families.
