I am an attachment-based psychoanalytic psychotherapist with over 20 years’ clinical experience in private practice and the NHS.
My work is grounded in a relational, depth-oriented approach. I am interested in how early and later relationships shape a person’s internal world, sense of self, and ways of relating to others. When these experiences have been complex, inconsistent, or overwhelming, this may give rise to anxiety, depression, relational difficulties, or a more pervasive sense of disconnection or unease.
Psychotherapy offers a setting in which these patterns can be thought about carefully and worked with over time. I offer a consistent and confidential space, with clear boundaries, in which both current concerns and underlying emotional processes can be explored. This often includes attention to aspects of experience that may be outside immediate awareness, but nonetheless influential.
I work at depth and tend to see people for open-ended or longer-term psychotherapy. My practice is particularly suited to individuals seeking a serious piece of therapeutic work, including those who may have had previous therapy and are looking to engage more analytically.
I hold in mind the wider contexts in which a person’s life is lived, including questions of identity, difference, embodiment, and the impact of social and relational environments. These are approached with care and without assumption, according to what is meaningful for each individual.
I am attentive to complexity, including where experiences may not sit neatly within diagnostic or conventional frameworks.”
What I Can Help With
I work with a wide range of psychological and emotional difficulties, including:
Anxiety and depression
Relationship and attachment difficulties
Trauma and post-traumatic stress
Eating disorders
Personality and identity-related difficulties
Self-harm and suicidal feelings
Addiction
Bipolar disorder
I also work with individuals who may not have a clear diagnosis, but who are aware of a persistent difficulty or internal conflict they would like to understand.
Practical Information
I work with individual adults in private practice in London, Leamington Spa, and online.
I am a registered provider with a number of private health insurers, including AXA, AvIVA, Vitality, WPA, and Aetna.
An initial consultation provides an opportunity to consider your needs and whether this way of working feels appropriate.
I have been in clinical practice since 2004 and completed my training at the Bowlby Centre in London (2002–2006).
Alongside my private practice, I have worked within an NHS Foundation Trust in acute mental health services. I hold a number of senior roles within the psychotherapy profession, including:
* UKCP-approved Clinical Supervisor
* Training Psychotherapist and Training Supervisor at established psychotherapy training organisations (including the Bowlby Centre, Goldsmiths University, and Warwick University)
* Clinical Supervisor to therapists working in NHS and specialist settings
* Independent Panel Member for the UKCP (Fitness to Practise)
My work includes supporting individuals with complex and longstanding psychological difficulties, as well as those who may feel that something in their lives or sense of self requires deeper understanding.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
