My practice is based around Integrative Transpersonal therapy, in practice this means that I draw on a number of approaches, including Psychodynamic, Gestalt, Transactional Analysis (TA) and CBT, whilst remaining open to the spiritual or energetic aspect of a person's experience, which is the transpersonal aspect.
The body and mind are intimately connected in this approach to therapy. You cannot have the one without the other, and as Bessel van der Kolk said, 'The Body Keeps the Score’ - so life experience and trauma, relates to the body as well as to the mind, and this can form a part of someone’s work.
As our life experiences are all different how the approaches are used in therapy is driven by the clients experience and what works best for them.
R D Laing wrote that psychotherapy is the attempt of two people to recover the wholeness of being human through the relationship between them. As such the relationship between therapist and client is the foundation of psychotherapy and I offer a free fifteen minute session to see how we experience that initial relationship which is so important to successful therapy. Hi, My client work is based on a holistic approach to psychotherapy, working with mind, body and spirit. As each of us are individual so my approach to each client is individual, sometimes creative techniques are appropriate, sometimes a quiet space to reflect is appropriate, you choose, it is your space.
I trained as a psychotherapist and counsellor at CCPE in London and have a post graduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling and psychotherapy and an MA in Transpersonal counselling and psychotherapy. I have also completed a certificate in Couples Counselling.
I work in person in Mortimer between Reading and in North Basingstoke and also offer sessions via zoom on line.
