My Approach

Intregrative Transpersonal

About Me

Hello, and a very warm welcome. Whatever is troubling you, whatever the stress or anxiety or trauma, let's work together gently and creatively to support your healing and moving forwards. I am an experienced accredited counsellor and psychotherapist and EFT and Matrix Reimprinting Practitioner with over 15 years in practice helping and supporting adults. I work either in person from a safe and confidential space in Croxley Green or Rickmansworth, or online. As well as my standard qualifications and professional memberships I also have a Certificate in Cyber Therapy and am a professional member of the Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy Online (ACTO) for my online work.

I am also a certified clinical supervisor supervising both trainee and qualified therapists.

As an integrative psychotherapist I practice in a warm and client-centred way working holistically and tailoring my skills to match your needs. I am trained in a number of modalities: psychodynamic, humanistic, existential and transpersonal psychotherapies, and work in a variety of creative ways; as well as the traditional ‘talking cure’, we can work with Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) and related energy therapies, IFS (Internal Family Systems), mindfulness and meditation, body and breath work, multi-modal CBT, visualisation, drawing, sand play and working with your dreams and archetypal material.

Some of the areas I specialise in includes stress, depression and low self esteem, anxiety, panic and OCD, complex and relational/attachment trauma (inc. PTSD and dissociative disorders) abuse, domestic violence, life transitions such as divorce, parenthood, redundancy and bereavement, and finding meaning and purpose in life. I also have a special interest in women's psychological health and particularly in the following: a deeply transformative experience of menstruation, peri-menopause and menopause, and in pregnancy and motherhood (the changes in a woman's identity, fertility issues, antenatal and postnatal depression, birth trauma, and the trauma of losing a baby whether by miscarriage, abortion, still birth, neonatal death or sudden infant death syndrome).

Additionally, I am an accredited EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) practitioner, and professional member of EFT International. EFT, also known as tapping, is a scientifically proven method for releasing emotional blockages from the body's energy system. It is a safe, gentle and effective technique for the healing of trauma, PTSD, phobias and addictions, stress, anxiety and panic, depression, negative belief systems - it benefits most things, and results are usually fast, with improved feelings of calm and wellbeing . In addition, I’m also a Matrix Reimprinting and Matrix Birth Reimprinting practitioner. Utilising EFT and visualisation techniques both these therapies offer an effective way in processing and clearing deep trauma without having to necessarily relive the actual event and risk retraumatisation. They also help to uncover core unconscious negative beliefs and behavioural patterns and transform them. Matrix Birth Reimprinting helps to gently clear trauma and stress that took place at conception, in utero, birth, and the hours and days after being born. It is also potentially helpful for infertility issues, loss of a child, miscarriage, abortion, and adoption.

I integrate EFT and Matrix Reimprinting into my psychotherapy practice and also offer them as stand-alone therapies.

As well as EFT and Matrix Reimprinting for trauma, I also use IFS (Internal Family Systems), and have undergone specific trauma training with Carolyn Spring (formerly PODS: Positive Outcomes for Dissociative Survivors) and am able to see clients through the whole spectrum of trauma and dissociative disorders. I am a DID (dissociative identity disorder) friendly therapist.

First and foremost, our work together is centred on building a relationship where you feel safe and more at ease. This is about your story, about weaving together the narrative of your life; it is you who knows your sorrows and joys, your thoughts and feelings. My role is to understand what life is like for you as we work collaboratively to make sense of your experiences; to help you unearth the inner resources and personal qualities you already possess to cope better and discover new ways of being and relating. Sometimes life’s challenges really do offer unique opportunities for growth.

I very much look forward to working with you.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I am trauma-informed having done a lot of training in this area, and have trained in specific trauma approaches EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), Matrix Reimprinting, IFS (Internal Family Systems)).
I supervise both qualified and trainee counsellors/psychotherapists and offer either in person or online sessions. Supervision can take place either fortnightly or monthly, or weekly if required. I can also offer supervision for those in other helping, front-line professions such as coaches, teachers, nurses and support workers to help emotionally unburden their workload, increase resilience and learn new ways of working. It’s considered good practice for any school or front-line agency to have monthly supervision for their staff. As a supervisor I really enjoy working collaboratively and creatively to help support your work as counsellor or psychotherapist. I aim to provide a safe and warm space where you can reflect on your practice and recharge your batteries, and where challenge and support are equally balanced to create invigorating and empowering supervision. I really enjoy trusting my supervisees process, nurturing their intuition and valuing their qualities, and seeing their skills develop – I will always tailor my knowledge and experience to whatever degree you need it. Supervision is a space for sharing and learning in equal measure. Fundamentally it is a place to attend to your wellbeing as a practitioner and develop your own style as an ethical and resilient therapist. I use my knowledge, training and experience as an integrative transpersonal psychotherapist in my supervision work. I hold an OCN Certificate in Counselling and Supervision (Level 5) and am currently undergoing another certificate in supervision with the CSTD as I wanted to specifically train with Robin and Joan Shohet and deepen my skills further. Theoretically, I work with the following models of supervision: 1. CLEAR (Hawkins) 2. 7 Eyed-Model (Hawkins and Shohet) 3. Formative – Restorative – Normative (Inskipp and Proctor) I charge £60 for a 50 minute session, £65 for 60 minutes, and £90 for 90 minutes. If you would like to work with me, I offer a free 30-minute chat to establish what you are looking for in a supervisor and to make sure we are going to be a good fit working together. I will send you my working agreement prior to this meeting as this forms part of the basis for our discussion. I look forward to working with you.
