As a systemic family therapist I am interested in hearing about people in the context of their relationships and communities. I am a warm and approachable person. I offer a supportive, therapeutic relationship where people can talk about issues important to them and where we can think together about what you would like to be different and what you value and want to keep. I am used to working with families, couples, individuals and teams of professionals and want to hear everybody's views and work with you and your resources in a way that fits for you.
I ask questions to try and help you find new perspectives and understandings. I will regularly review with you what you find useful or not about how we work together.
I work with groups of people, families, couples and individuals. I am trained as a Family and Systemic Psychotherapist, qualifying in 2005 after first training and working as a Social Worker. I worked in NHS Child and Adolescent Mental Health for 13 years, and also with couples and families in private practice for several years. I have also worked as a clinical lecturer and tutor. I worked in the NHS Children and Adolescent Gender Services for seven years and then in adult NHS Gender Services for a year. I am a qualified Systemic Supervisor and within the NHS supervised a training clinic, I also supervise individuals privately.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
