I provide face to face, short and long term counselling and psychotherapy to individuals and couples who wish to explore themselves in order to gain a greater understanding of why they feel and behave the way they do. I believe that self understanding provides us with the courage to choose and live our lives in a more fulfilling and loving way.
Interestingly my client base has over the last 2 years seen an increase in male clients presenting with anxiety who often find it difficult to contemplate entering therapy for many reasons including long held cultural taboos. This trend suggests that men are feeling it is now okay to seek help. I feel this is a good sign and one to be encouraged.
I have a special interest in the challenges raised for the individual and the couple when women become mothers and men become fathers. This is a time of great personal inner change which often goes unacknowledged as the infant's needs are of paramount importance and can leave an individual feeling lost, alone and unseen. The danger is that we judge ourselves as lacking as a parent or individual, when in reality we are being challenged to inwardly grow at an accelerated rate in so many different directions that it is hard not to feel fragmented.
I receive referrals from private individuals, the NHS, medico-legal agencies, insurance companies, Church Army, The Law Society via LawCare, Employee Assistance Schemes and Rehabilitation Agencies.
