I am an integrative psychotherapist with an interest in how early life experiences shape our lives. I offer a safe, supportive and confidential space where you can explore the issues that you're struggling with, make sense of where they might have come from, and begin to find different ways of dealing with them. I work both short and long term, depending on what it is that you want to explore. Some people come with specific goals or things that they want to work on, while others have a more general sense that something isn't quite right, without being able to work out, on their own, what that is. For some people, expressing feelings is difficult, while others struggle with distressing thoughts. My role is to work with you and alongside you, collaboratively, to help you understand your feelings, your thoughts and yourself better, to see what is holding you back, and to move towards making positive changes in your life. This often involves making connections between what is going on for you now, in the present, and what you may have experienced in the past, particularly in your earliest relationships. After all, this is when patterns of relating to others, or reacting to situations, are first established - patterns that now, in the present, may be unhelpful and in need of updating. Asking for help when things feel overwhelming, or when life becomes difficult, can feel like a difficult first step. If you would like any more information, then please phone or email me for an informal, no obligation chat to help you decide whether you would like to take that first step and make an initial appointment.
