My Approach

My work with trauma (over-whelming experience) is influenced by Sensorimotor Psychotherapy which acknowledges that the body holds its own non-verbal memory that may not have words.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a non-pathologising, mindful way of working towards internal attachment repair.
It is respectful of our protective system that has helped us survive and often defends the parts of us that hold vulnerability. Working from the belief that we all have good at our core.

Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR) is a talk therapy that is able to support the discharge of shock from the Mid Brain.

I have a broad range of experience working with individual adults with developments trauma.
I endeavour to offer a place for you to gain some perspective on your life, and gain an understanding of why you sometimes behave in ways you do not like or understand.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

We experience loss in many ways other than the death. We may experience loss of capacity or a change in life circumstance through the impact on illness, redundancy, divorce or a relational breach.
drawing on Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Internal Family Systems and Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR is a talk therapy that is able to support the discharge of shock from the Mid Brain that can trigger the whole system and also help the brain to remember rather than relive traumatic memories)
This is something often not acknowledged in counselling and may be a source of wounding or comfort.
