At various times in our lives we seek a new perspective to help us through a challenging period. Perhaps we don’t want to rely on existing support networks or medication. Psychotherapeutic counselling offers a unique type of conversation: led by you and covering whatever you choose. Together we will question your ways of thinking that may run so deep you don’t know they can be questioned. Ultimately you may discover that sometimes difficult feelings are done to us and sometimes we do them to ourselves. Discovering this difference can be very liberating.
I work with your needs in a warm, relational manner drawing on theory from, amongst other sources, philosophy and psychoanalysis. I work in-person or online.
Many issues can feel more manageable after 6-18 sessions, others take longer. We meet initially to assess your needs and agree what is expected of both parties.
I work with individuals and couples with an emphasis on building a safe and trusted relationship.
I am interested in life stages and life transitions and the struggles these may bring, including young adulthood, relationship decisions, the route to parenthood or not, infertility, finding meaning in life, mid-life, loss and bereavement.
Other notable experience lies in: working with multiple birth families (through the Twins Trust) and the pressures of corporate life and how it may affect us.
I qualified in 2011 after completing an MSc in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Roehampton University. I also have an Honours degree in Psychology from the University of Exeter. I hold a certificate in Working with Couples and Other Relationships from The Grove, in London.
Alongside my private practice, I also work for Evolve Community Counselling, a mental health charity.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
