Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I support people by recognizing ADHD as a neuro-developmental outcome rather than a deficit. My work focuses on helping clients understand their unique neurobiology, build self-compassion, and develop practical strategies to navigate challenges and societal expectations while embracing their strengths. ADHD affects attention, emotional regulation, executive functioning, and relationships. Rather than focusing solely on symptom management, I explore how early developmental experiences, attachment patterns, and environmental factors have shaped a person's sense of self. I integrate psychodynamic, existential, cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, and somatic approaches to address self-esteem issues, emotional dysregulation, and feelings of overwhelm. Many people with ADHD have experienced criticism, rejection sensitivity, or shame. I work relationally to create a validating space where they feel understood and supported. Together, we identify strengths, challenge negative self-beliefs, and develop strategies for focus, organization, and emotional balance. Mindfulness, body-based techniques, and nervous system regulation are also key components of my approach. Ultimately, my goal is to help people move beyond frustration and self-judgment, fostering self-acceptance, resilience, and a way of living that aligns with their natural rhythms and abilities. ADHD is not just a challenge—it can also be a unique, creative and powerful way of experiencing the world.
I support people with depression by creating a safe, compassionate space where they can feel truly seen and heard. Depression often brings feelings of isolation, shame, and self-criticism, making the therapeutic relationship a vital foundation for healing. Through attuned connection, I help people explore their emotions, uncovering underlying patterns, which can help them reconnect with themselves and others. Together we will explore how past experiences, relational patterns, and core beliefs contribute to their current struggles. I support people in processing difficult emotions, challenging self-defeating thoughts, and developing self-compassion. By integrating mindfulness and body-based techniques, I help people regulate emotions and reconnect with a sense of self. Because relationships play a key role in emotional well-being, I explore how people relate to themselves and others, addressing patterns of withdrawal, unmet needs, or difficulties in expressing vulnerability. Through our therapeutic relationship, clients experience a secure, accepting connection that fosters healing and self-acceptance. Ultimately, my goal is to help people move beyond their depression, rediscovering purpose and meaning, whilst cultivating more fulfilling relationships with themselves and others.
As an integrative psychotherapist with a background in business leadership, I support people facing employment difficulties by combining psychological insight with real-world professional experience. Work-related challenges—such as stress, career transitions, workplace conflict, or redundancy—can deeply affect self-esteem and overall well-being. My approach helps clients build resilience, confidence, and clarity in their professional lives. I help people identify limiting beliefs, navigate workplace dynamics, and develop effective communication skills. My leadership experience provides valuable insights into organizational structures, management styles, and career progression, allowing me to offer both emotional support and practical strategies. For those struggling with burnout or toxic work environments, I focus on stress management and boundary-setting. Clients facing job loss or career uncertainty receive guidance in redefining their goals and leveraging their strengths. I also assist professionals in developing assertiveness and leadership skills to enhance their workplace success. My goal is to empower people to navigate employment challenges with confidence and purpose. By integrating psychological depth with practical career expertise, I help them create a professional life that aligns with their values, strengths, and aspirations.
I help create a safe, non-judgmental space where people can explore their relationship patterns, emotional triggers, and communication styles. By identifying underlying beliefs and past experiences that shape their relationships, I support people in gaining self-awareness and developing healthier ways of relating. I also incorporate mindfulness and somatic techniques to help clients regulate emotions and build deeper connections. Considering and reflecting on other's perspectives, is key here as it fosters empathy and a more open dialogue. I work on conflict resolution, trust-building, and enhancing intimacy by addressing unmet needs and attachment wounds. In cases of relationship breakdown, I guide people through grief, acceptance, and personal growth. Ultimately, my goal is to empower people to cultivate fulfilling, authentic relationships—whether with partners, family members, or themselves. My integrative approach allows for deep healing, growth, and lasting change in relational dynamics.
I provide a compassionate, tailored approach to working with trauma, including PTSD, chronic childhood trauma, and intergenerational trauma. Trauma is not just a past event but a lived experience that shapes emotions, relationships, and self-perception. My work focuses on creating safety, stabilizing emotions, and gently exploring past wounds at a pace that feels manageable for each person. Drawing from psychodynamic, somatic, and attachment-based approaches, I help people process traumatic memories while addressing how trauma is held in the body. Mindfulness and body-oriented techniques support emotional regulation and reconnection with a sense of safety. For PTSD, I integrate grounding techniques and trauma-informed cognitive strategies to reduce distress and intrusive symptoms. With chronic and childhood trauma, I explore early relational patterns, attachment wounds, and inner narratives that may contribute to shame, self-blame, or difficulty trusting others. Intergenerational trauma work involves recognizing inherited emotional burdens and breaking unconscious cycles, fostering healing for both the individual and future generations. Throughout the process, I prioritize the therapeutic relationship as a space of stability and trust, empowering clients to reclaim their sense of self, develop resilience, and move toward a more fulfilling and connected life.
