My Approach

As a Person-Centred Experiential psychotherapist my primary aim is to place you at the centre of the therapy journey. I seek to create a warm, safe, accepting therapy space where you can develop the confidence and trust necessary to be able to express yourself openly. I offer you a collaborative relationship with an empathetic perspective that helps you explore your thoughts. feelings and experiences in a deeply personal and meaningful way. I value and respect your autonomy and self-discovery that leads you to self-awareness and helpful solutions. This unique, collaborative journey fosters personal growth and self-acceptance that leads to positive change. My person-centred experiential approach is a holistic approach aligned to your values and goals for mental and emotional well-being.

About Me

As a mature person I arrived late to education and psychotherapy training but on reflection I feel I arrived at just the right time of my life. Life transitions can be tough. Just when we thought we had some things figured out we reach another age and stage of life's journey and all the plates we managed to spin are now falling to the ground. I found life transitions can be opportunities for life transformations but, as the caterpillar knows, it can be hard work trying to get an old coat off! I am still on life's journey - some days I have it all together and somedays, I too, am still struggling to unfurl more of the wingspan I need to take me further than I thought I needed to go. Whatever the reason for change and transformation we all need that person in our lives who can accompany us on the way and help us at the times we struggle to help ourselves. It may be that I can be that person for you - whatever the pain, relational struggle, self-doubt or life-transition you are currently facing - you will find that I am a warm, safe, trustworthy, respectful and accepting presence to help you move forward from where you are today

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

As part of my MSc training I have regularly engaged with online and telephone counselling and see this as an important pathway for clients to access counselling services
I have a wide experience of working in the charitable sector with male and female survivors of sexual, physical and emotional abuse
I have experience working with relational and interpersonal issues concerning partners, family members, friends or work colleagues if you are experiencing difficulties concerning communication problems, conflicts or struggle to maintain healthy relational boundaries
As a Christian I understand spirituality to be a fundamental aspect of many people's lives. I have a wide experience of creating opportunities to explore issues around faith, belief, and practice in a warm and sensitive, empathetic environment. I also have experience exploring issues relating to concerns and vulnerability to spiritual abuse in the wider faith community
I have a wide experience in the voluntary sector of trauma-related work issues, particularly relating to emergency service providers in particular the police service
