I am an Integrative psychotherapist with an additional qualification in Gestalt. I am also a qualified clinical supervisor. Drawing from a number of psychotherapeutic perspectives, I tailor make my work with you to who you are and what you bring. You might choose to do therapy because you wish to understand yourself better, to work with issues in relationships, to build resilience or to make changes and to take action. I will engage with you by enquiring deeply in order to recognise and acknowledge what you have lived through and how you see it. Together we will work to expand and deepen an understanding of your life and your story, to shift destructive or unhelpful thoughts and feelings, to create a coherent narrative, perhaps seeing new points of view in order to update what might be an old story or working to find good endings. My main points of reference also include attachment theory, feeling yourself as embodied, recognising the experience of relational as well as situational trauma, menopause and ageing.
I have over thirty years of professional experience. I am practical, compassionate and creative, with a straightforward, friendly and open manner. My approach to therapy recognises the importance of our daily life contexts and takes into account gender, ethnic identities, class, sexuality, health and the political and social spheres. I have lived in four different countries and understand cultural difference from the inside. As well as maintaining a private practice I have worked in a variety of settings over the years, as a consultant, trainer and supervisor. I have undertaken additional training in clinical supervision and groupwork. I am experienced in working with and welcoming of those who are LGBTQIA+ as well as those who are neurodivergent.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
