Living can be a challenge...
If you are struggling and are looking to reflect on the situation you find yourself in, you might be considering psychotherapy. I am here to support you in your exploration.
About me
I am Noemi Lakmaier, a UKCP accredited and BACP registered psychotherapist. Resolute Therapy is my East London based psychotherapy practice, where I work with adults from all walks of life, all genders and sexual and relationship diversities.
I believe that you are the true expert in yourself, yet at times we can all benefit from a skilled, external perspective on our problems and concerns. For me psychotherapy is not about categorising people, nor is it about establishing a diagnosis or finding a 'cure'. As your therapist, I will be alongside you and support you while we explore where you are at and where you would like to be. I endeavour to create a relationship of trust by listening and responding in such a way that anything and everything can be said, in order to bring about new possibilities and facilitate meaningful and lasting change.
I have worked with individuals experiencing a broad range of challenges that can affect us all as human beings. I identify as a disabled, queer woman and an immigrant to the UK. I have a particular interest in and experience with minority experiences, gender, sexuality, disability and identity. I am a LGBTQ+ affirmative, as well as kink- and poly aware therapist.
I work from an existential perspective, which means that my approach has a philosophical edge concerned with the question of what it means to be human, or in other words, what all 'this' is about'.
I originally come from a visual and performance art background, which I continue to pursue alongside my therapy practice.
How to get started
The decision to approach a counsellor or psychotherapist is a positive one, but it can also be daunting and you may have questions or anxieties about it. Please visit my website to find out more about me or contact me. I am happy to answer any questions you may have and respond to inquiries quickly.
If you would like to take it further I will suggest a time for an initial meeting. This gives us an opportunity to discuss what brings you to therapy and what your hopes and expectations are. I am also happy to answer question about myself and how I work. If we decide to go ahead, we will agree times and fees and discuss an agreement outlining obligations for us both. We will then meet regularly at the same time on a weekly basis.
