Nicola offers Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for eating disorders (CBT-ED) which is recommended for adults and young people with a range of different eating disorders.
CURRENT OCCUPATION:
Nicola works as a lecturer on the national CBT for Eating Disorders programme at the University of Sheffield.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Nicola is a Mental Health Nurse, Cognitive Behaviour Therapist, Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist and Person-Centred Counsellor. She has undertaken the University of Oxford (CREDO) Enhanced Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for eating disorder (CBT-E) training; the Eating Disorder Education and Training Scotland (EEATS) training in Family Based Treatment (FBT); the South London and Maudsley (SLAM) Multi-Family Therapy for Anorexia (MFT-AN) training; the Tavistock Relationships ‘Parents as Partners’ training and ‘Mentalisation Based Treatment for [high conflict] Couples’ (MBT-CT) training. She has an introductory qualification in Systemic Family Therapy (accredited by the AFT) and is also a qualified couples counsellor and group psychotherapist.
Nicola has worked as a specialist and highly specialist psychotherapist in NHS inpatient, day patient, outpatient, and community mental health services including eating disorders and personality disorders for over 20 years, and as a specialist / consultant with families in Local Authorities and the charity sector.
She works in a culturally competent way with clients whose first language was not English (asylum seekers, economic migrants), and in inner-city and rural settings with clients from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.
