My Approach

I aim to provide a safe and confidential space in which you and I can explore and address your difficulties, so you may find a more fulfilling way of being in the world. Central to my work is understanding and working from your unique perspective and values in order to support you to find a way forward that fits for you. This includes appreciating and working with each of our similarities and differences around identity and life experiences, visible or invisible, and the different opportunities or difficulties that may have created. I work in a collaborative and creative way. This can be especially useful when some of what you are experiencing doesn't have words. On these occasions I work with you to find other ways of expressing things which work for you. This may include using imagery, drawings, body-focused therapy, as well as talking to help you make sense of things and feel empowered to change things.

About Me

I am an experienced integrative psychotherapist working in private practice offering psychotherapy to adults in SE London. I have been working as a therapist since 1999 with experience of supporting individuals with a range of needs in different contexts including a GP surgery, Sutton Hospital Psychotherapy Dept, PACE, and an Alcohol and Drugs agency. Most recently as a staff counsellor at the London Fire Brigade until 2015. Since then I have been interested in focusing on supporting individuals in my private practice based in Anerley near to Crystal Palace with good access from central and SE London including Forest Hill, Penge and Norwood.

I was also chair of the Trauma Network ( London) from 2012 - 2014. This was an organisation where Psychotherapists, Counsellors and Psychologists, working with clients who have experienced trauma, regularly met and shared knowledge about new ways of working with trauma. \n\n

Prior to training as a psychotherapist my work included being a Research Assistant at the Institute of Psychiatry on adoption and fostering and then as an Assistant Social Worker in a London borough, working with vulnerable adults. I bring all of this knowledge and experience to my current work.
