My Approach

My practice is grounded in an integrative framework that draws from Transactional Analysis (TA), Gestalt, and Person-Centred approaches. I work relationally and with awareness of ego states and internal dynamics, helping clients gain insight into patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaviour shaped by early relational experiences.

I blend these modalities with the structured, neuroscience-informed process of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing), particularly useful for addressing trauma, attachment wounds, and persistent emotional blocks.

As a certified psychosexual and couples therapist, I also support individuals and partners in navigating intimacy, communication, and relational dynamics with compassion and clarity. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to meet your unique therapeutic goals.

About Me

Mehbuba Khalid – MSc Psych, Dip. Psych ( clinical), Dip Psych (Counselling), MBACP, UKCP
Humanistic Psychotherapist | Certified Psychosexual & Couples Therapist.

I am a Humanistic Psychotherapist with additional certification in Psychosexual and Couples Therapy and EMDR. I offer both in-person and online therapy for individuals and couples, providing a compassionate, non-judgmental space to explore a wide range of emotional and relational challenges.

My practice integrates trauma-focused therapy using EMDR, as well as support for issues such as loss, abuse, depression, anxiety, addiction, and intimacy. I take a relational and integrative approach—drawing on Gestalt, Transactional Analysis, and Person-Centred Therapy—tailoring each session to meet the unique needs and goals of the client.

Rooted in a humanistic and integrative perspective, my work encourages clients to define their experiences on their own terms. While diagnostic labels can provide understanding, they can also restrict growth. Together, we will explore the deeper layers of your inner world—including the internal family of ego states shaped by early experiences and relational dynamics—to foster healing and personal transformation.

I believe that meaningful change is always possible, and I am here to support you in navigating toward greater resilience, clarity, and self-discovery.

Let’s work together to create a life that aligns with your most authentic self.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I work sensitively with clients affected by abuse, using an integrative approach rooted in EMDR, Transactional Analysis, Gestalt, and Person-Centred therapy. Together, we explore trauma, rebuild trust in self and others, and support the journey toward empowerment, healing, and emotional resilience.
I work with clients experiencing addiction by exploring the underlying emotional and relational roots of compulsive behaviours. Using an integrative approach—blending trauma-informed EMDR, TA, and person-centred therapy—I support clients in developing healthier coping strategies, rebuilding self-worth, and fostering lasting recovery.
I support clients struggling with anorexia by addressing the emotional, relational, and identity-based issues underlying disordered eating. Through a compassionate, trauma-informed approach—drawing on EMDR, Gestalt, and person-centred therapy—I help clients rebuild a healthy relationship with food, body, and self.
support individuals struggling with anxiety by integrating EMDR, Gestalt, Person-Centred, and Transactional Analysis approaches. Together, we explore underlying patterns and internal conflicts, helping you build awareness, emotional regulation, and long-term tools for managing anxiety with greater clarity and confidence.
I support couples in navigating challenges such as communication issues, intimacy difficulties, infidelity, and emotional disconnection. My integrative approach—drawing from Transactional Analysis, Gestalt, and person-centred therapy—helps partners understand their relational patterns, deepen connection, and build healthier, more fulfilling relationships.
