I am a psychoanalytic psychotherapist qualified with the Philadelphia Association, a charity established in 1965 by RD Laing to challenge accepted ways of thinking and treating mental illness and emotional distress. My approach is informed by both the psychoanalytic and existential heritage of psychotherapy. I work in private practice in the Fiveways area of Brighton, with adults and young people. I offer both short term and long term work with people seeking personal development, through exploring emotional and relationship issues, loss and life transitions, difficulties with creativity and meaning, depression, and self-doubt. I am particularly interested in working with cultural diversity and issues to do with ethnicity, race, mixed heritage, belonging and identity.
My original training was in social work. I have twenty five years of experience of working with children, families and mental health.I have experience in working with people in extreme distress, including psychiatric problems.
