My Approach

I am approachable, supportive, empathic, human, non-shaming and kindly challenging and employ a variety of approaches to help clients overcome their hurdles and enjoy the kind of life they would prefer. I utilise CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), Acceptance-based therapy, Neurolinguistic Therapy, Integrative, Person-centred and Mindfulness. The only reason these "modalities" matter is that some approaches work better for some problems than others - so it helps to have a "toolbox". A great deal of successful therapy can be put down to the relationship between client and therapist, as well as the "modality" and methods, and of course the experience and expertise of the therapist. Most importantly it is a collaborative alliance and with this I have seen truly wonderful changes in clients over the years - even when they felt great frustration and little hope.

I am always happy to talk on the phone before meeting and within initial sessions we can both check after half an hour that we are happy to continue working together. If you wish to see someone else or I don't think I have the skill set and experience to help you, you don't have to pay for that time. I will of course offer some suggestions in that instance of other avenues you can try.
