As a family therapist, my strength is in working with families, children, couples or individuals who are experiencing various tensions due to emotional, social, cultural or mental health difficulties.
My work is influenced by communication and interactional patterns. I take a stance of curiosity and work from a social constructionist premise. This allows me to create space to hear what has brought you as an individual, family or couple to therapy, your understanding of the difficulties and how you wish to resolve them. From hearing your wishes, we co-construct your preferred realities and preferred outcomes.
I have more than 12 years clinical experience working in various mental health settings namely specialist CAMHS services and Adult Mental health services.
I have expertise in working with children and young people who experience self harming behaviours, anxiety disorders, depression, trauma, difficulties with anger and difficulties adjusting following parental divorce or separation, parental mental illness or living with siblings with a disability.
I also have expertise in working with adults and couples where there are attachment injuries, drug and or alcohol dependency, pornography dependency and cultural differences.
I have a special interest in working with Black and ethinic minority families, couples and individuals. I have knowledge and experience of working with the tensions that arise from the interface between culture, migration, faith and emotional difficulties.
I am also interested in working with fostered and adopted children and their foster carers and adoptive parents
I am currently working in a local authority with families who are subject to child protection or child in need plans..
