My Approach

In our work we will integrate humanist, psychodynamic and existential theories tailored to and co-created with individual clients. My approach is non-judgemental, compassion focused, confidential, empathic but also challenging. We will explore your childhood and past relationships alongside present difficulties, increasing self-awareness and ultimately agency. I am also trained in therapeutic writing and hypnotherapy.

About Me

My practice is based in Norwich, UK and I also see private clients online. I work part time for a charity specializing in sexual trauma, violence and abuse. I am also a writer, having writen for newspaper and magazines, and have authored a book on Melanie Klein. I love working with client's stories, their search for their authentic voices, and often use memoir or letter writing as a therapeutic tool. I trained 12 years ago and obtained a BSc (Hons) in Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counselling. I have worked in private practice and with abuse survivor charities ever since.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

The main presenting issue that my clients bring often turns out to be a coping mechanism or a response to something deeper. When we go deeper we discover our stories, many of which can be rewritten or updated to provide us with more understanding and clarity about who we are, how we operate in and view our world. There are many resources for anxiety and PTSD symptom management but everyone is unique, and understanding yourself and your story is the beginning of change.
I mainly work face to face, but have a large percentage of online work with many clients around the country. This is slightly different and many client prefer it; there are very specific boundaries to online work which we can discuss.
I work relationally so believe an understanding of how we as individuals connect with each other and the world is essential to our healing. You may have esperienced abusive relationships, feeli you are making the wrong choices all the time, or not feel good enough. Talking helps you find your voice, your story and understand why this keeps happening and what you can begin to do to make better and more authetic choices.
I have been a counsellor for clients who have experienced sexual, emotional and domestic abuse, rape and adult survivors of child sexual abuse for 12 years. I also work with a range of clients with early attachment trauma, low self-esteem or with currently relationship difficulties.
