My Approach

My approach is referred to as 'Systemic Psychotherapy'. I am also a Systemic Supervisor (since 2012). Most often I am called a 'Family Therapist' as the system I tend to work most with is the family. However I work will all systems, teams, couples, organisations and the individual with the systems they live with informing my approach. I am trauma informed and attachment focused, with a current interest in Internal Family Systems.

About Me

I have worked in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) since 1999. Initially as a Psychiatric Nurse and from 2008 as a Systemic Psychotherapist. I am also a qualified Systemic Supervisor (2012) offering professionals and colleagues clinical supervision. I work with a wide range of emotional and/or relational problems, risks and difficulties. I believe that relationships can be a resource to recovery and that problems are best understood within the contexts they develop and appear. I currently work as an inpatient Systemic Psychotherapist on an adolescent ward and have my own private clinical practice at Therapytogether.co.uk.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

Anxiety presents in many different forms and the impact this can have on the system, can then complicate the anxiety experienced and recovery process.
Working with the couple and/or parent system where the problem presents within the relationship, an individual and/or child, or from an external source to the system.
Working with the family system can be the most powerful resource to recovery, no matter how big or small the problem is, and even when there are different views of what the problem even is.
With over 25 years working in child and adolescent mental health services, as a nurse and then a family therapist, both in community and inpatient services, the NHS, private sector and a local charity, I have a wealth and broad range of clinical experience with child mental health problems and relationship difficulties.
I am a qualified Systemic Supervisor (2012) and provide individual, group or team clinical supervision. This can be online or in-person, retrospective or live if local to Chelmsford or Colchester where I am based.
