My Approach

Psychotherapy can be understood as a relationship with a professionally trained person who is able to accompany you on an internal journey where it is possible to explore and come to terms with the trouble of life and as a result find inner resilience, and self compassion. This is made possible through the creation of safety and trust in relationship that offers confidentiality and holding space for the gentle unfolding of personal stories. This enables a supportive exploration of sometimes difficult and painful emotions and can also unearth more joyous and positive memories that have sometimes been shrouded. I work alongside my clients in a collaborative manner and encourage the development of insight with self compassion to challenge overdeveloped shame, self critique and persecution that can be debilitating inhibitors of self development and confidence. I also encourage experimentation and exploration to enable clients to risk becoming more of themselves and to develop self authenticity and courage. I draw upon creativity, imagination, bodywork and mindfulness as a way of helping clients to develop connections to the self. I believe that expressing the self and communication takes many forms and is not limited to words alone.
Under strain, like any wound, old traumas can resurface if not given time to process. Body and psyche require space for integration and resolution, psychotherapy provides a holding relationship for this essential work.
