About Me

There can be times in our lives when we experience distressing events or feelings which seem overwhelming. This can be due to a particular circumstance, such as difficulties in our current relationships, work-related stress, illness, bereavement, or dealing with painful memories from our childhood. Sometimes we have no idea what makes us feel the way we do. All we know is that life has become distressing or even intolerable. At these times, talking therapy may be a helpful option. I realize the thought of meeting with a therapist can be daunting, but it provides the opportunity to make sense of your individual circumstances, leaving you better equipped to cope for the future. During the sessions, ideas, thoughts and feelings can be aired in a non-judgemental and confidential setting.
I have worked as a therapist for over 30 years in various settings, including as a staff counsellor at a London teaching hospital and Counselling Service Manager for a CCG-funded Mind organisation, the Senior Tutor on YR2 of the MSc in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy at Birkbeck College. I am experienced in providing short-term-focused counselling or longer-term psychoanalytic therapy. I am qualified to see couples, having trained with Relate as a relationship counsellor and to facilitate therapy groups, having trained as a Group Analyst at the Institute of Group Analysis. Currently, I work as a clinical supervisor on a psychodynamic counsellor training course and as the Diploma Course Convenor at the Institute of Group Analysis. I provide private supervision for qualified counsellors/psychotherapists. As an organizational consultant (MA in Organizational Consultancy from the Tavistock Clinic) I am experienced in facilitating various staff groups, including Reflective Practice Groups.
