Psychoanalytic psychotherapy is a process that involves talking openly and honestly about your experiences and emotions and exploring what they mean in the contest of the here and now, as well as in terms of your past experiences and the creative expressions of your dreams and fantasies. Beginning with what brings you to psycho therapy, I am interested in helping you understand and make sense of your current feelings, to work out how you interact with others, and to explore your identity and what it means to be you.
Working in this way, you can expect:
- to be listened to
- to explore your feelings in a safe non-judgemental environment
- to understand yourself better and make your own choices.
The process may also help you:
- feel better able to cope
- examine current and past problems
- alter the way you see your relationships
- better accept yourself and others
- make more meaningful decisions.
The work is usually open-ended and may take some time, sometimes over more than one session per week.

I am a psychoanalytic psychotherapist and also have a prior training in psychotherapeutic counselling. I work in private practice, with adults and young people, and also as the lead counsellor in a secondary school.
