Reaching out for help and support can feel so daunting – yet by reading this you are already considering this courageous and important step. Whether you are experiencing anxiety, depression, anger, loneliness, difficulty in your relationships, distressing memories or thoughts, or have experienced abuse, bereavement or childhood trauma, for example, you are not alone. I believe change is possible and I find it such a privilege to be alongside my clients to support their process unfold.
I work with clients with kindness, curiosity and creativity – being alongside you in a safe, therapeutic relationship in which you can be curious and expand your insights about yourself, your life and your relationships.
Our starting point will be understanding what you would like from your therapy. From there, working at your pace, our work together would aim to build your understanding of how you experience the world and those around you, noticing the patterns in your thoughts or behaviours that may be affecting your life, and identifying what you would like to change. We may explore and build upon your internal resources so that you can treat yourself with kindness and compassion, making choices that serve you well.
You are a unique individual with your own innate qualities, drives and potential for onward growth. Only you know what you have experienced, what your daily life is like, what you are thinking, what you are feeling, and what brings you joy. Our work together will therefore be personalised to you, shaped by drawing together aspects of different therapeutic approaches in a way that best meets your needs as your process unfolds. This may include trauma-informed therapy, Internal Family Systems approaches, psychodynamic, person-centred, Gestalt, humanistic, transpersonal, cognitive-behavioural therapy, mindfulness, body-awareness, or others.
In practice, this means we may explore, and get to know, the parts of you that are feeling anxious, depressed, hyper vigilant, angry or other emotions, or parts of you that result in different behaviours that may be causing you difficulties or affecting your relationships. We may also be curious about what is emerging in your dreams, or we may use art, sand-tray or work with symbols to provide you with others means of expressing and exploring your experiences, without having to put things into words.
This work is a process, and my aim is to be alongside you as you embark on this journey of healing, compassion and transformation so that you can find space for peace, calm and joy in your life, and become who you want to be.
I am a UKCP-accredited integrative transpersonal psychotherapist with both a Masters degree in Transpersonal Counselling and Psychotherapy and a post-graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I work with clients who are experiencing anxiety, depression, anger, distressing memories, hyper-vigilance and symptoms of PTSD, for example. I also specialise in working with clients with developmental (childhood) trauma, such as if they have experienced abuse, violence, bereavement, parents/caregiver addictions, neglect, bullying or other difficulties as a child, as these can have a profound effect on how clients, as adults, experience the world and their present-day relationships.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
