My Approach

I work eclectically using a range of models and influences including gestalt, working relationally, formative psychology and polyvagal theory. I have over twenty years experience in private practice as a psychotherapist, combined with a decade each of practicing in the NHS as a counsellor in a GP surgery and as a Bereavement, Loss and Trauma counsellor in a hospital setting.

About Me

NB* I am out of the office from Tuesday 26th March 'till Wednesday 3rd April 2024
I believe that psychotherapy and counselling can have a significant effect on our lives, where we can develop our relationship to ourselves and to others, in new and more fulfilling ways. I believe that our experience begins with learning about ourselves. So learning about how we experience ourselves emotionally, behaviourly and physically, informs us personally and professionally. In my experience psychotherapy can be an enriching experience for both the client and the therapist.

I work using Online Video two days per week and two days a week in person at my Windsor practice.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

Whether we're coming to terms with the ending of an intimate relationship, the death of a friend, family member or a much loved pet. Bereavement and loss are important elements of our lives, more prominent than ever in the last two years. Therapy can allow us the time to acknowledge our loss and reflect on our experience whilst helping us to form a new life whilst living with our loss. For a decade I practiced as a Bereavement, Loss and Trauma Counsellor in the Women and Children's & Critical Care department of the local hospital. I provided therapy to individuals and couples who had experienced; the loss of their pregnancy through miscarriage or termination, the loss of a baby or child, or who had experienced or witnessed a traumatic event.
A satisfying relationship is not a given, it takes the investment of time and effort; communication, compromise, understanding of our self and of our partner as well as goodwill.... to name just a few examples. The 'happily ever after...' In my opinion, is a myth as well as expecting our partner to 'just know what It is that we need or want'. Couples therapy is a way to invest in your relationship with time and space to explore and develop within it. Therapy can also be a place to evaluate and discuss ending a relationship, giving the decision the time and consideration it deserves.
I qualified as an online therapist two years ago with the Online Therapy Institute. Working online using video is different to working face to face, working online isn't suitable for everyone but it can be just as powerful as physically being together in the same room. It offers the freedom of meeting from any secure location, whilst being unlimited by physical immobility or travel restrictions. Online video sessions can feel different in both pace and tone. It is recognised that sometimes we can find it easier to talk and express ourselves online rather than face to face. This can prove to be both an advantage and a disadvantage. And when managed sympathetically and with awareness it helps us to work at a pace that feels appropriate to person.
