My orientation is broadly speaking integrative and psychodynamic, strongly informed by attachment theory and trauma theory. My original training was in body psychotherapy and holistic psychotherapy. Psychoanalysis and my experience of working with the dying and the bereaved have further broadened my outlook and informed my work.
I work with adults from all walks of life and from a variety of cultural backgrounds who suffer with anxiety, depression, difficulties in relationships, bereavement, grief and loss, creative blocks, stress and trauma, are affected by chronic or life-threatening illness or end of life issues. I have a special interest in working with unresolved grief and attachment trauma across the lifespan.
Your first appointment will be an initial assessment. This provides an opportunity for us to talk about your current situation and difficulties and to see whether psychotherapy is likely to be helpful. If it feels right for us to work together. I may offer an initial six sessions before deciding to make a commitment. Work is usually open-ended. If it is short-term there is a specific focus to the work. All appointments last one hour and are held once a week or more frequently, depending on individual circumstances and need. Please contact me via email to arrange a free, brief conversation on the phone or via Zoom.
